Code of Conduct

Last Updated: July 2026

We want everyone at NISC to have a great experience, make valuable connections, and come away with something useful. NISC is all about sharing ideas, learning from each other, and having open and honest conversations. To help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone, we ask all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and colleagues to follow this Code of Conduct so that everyone feels respected, comfortable, and able to take part fully.

1. Who this applies to

This Code of Conduct applies to all delegates, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, event partners, suppliers, , Sapphire colleagues, venue staff and NISC team members.

2. Expected behaviour

All attendees are expected to treat others with respect and courtesy, allow others to contribute and be heard, keep discussions professional and constructive, respect different levels of knowledge and experience, follow venue and event instructions, use the event app and networking tools appropriately, and be mindful when discussing sensitive security topics or real incidents.

3. Unacceptable behaviour

NISC will not tolerate behaviour that is disruptive, intimidating, discriminatory, aggressive, inappropriate or unsafe. This includes harassment, bullying, abusive language, discriminatory behaviour, unwanted sales pressure, repeated unwanted contact, inappropriate photography or filming, sharing confidential information without permission, misuse of the event app or delegate information, and disruption of sessions, workshops, roundtables or networking activity.

4. Security discussions and confidentiality

NISC encourages open conversation, but attendees should be sensible when sharing information. Please do not disclose confidential, commercially sensitive or security-sensitive information unless permission has been given.

This includes details of live incidents, internal vulnerabilities, customer or employee information, unpublished research, sensitive controls or information shared in a private or closed discussion setting.

5. Event app and networking conduct

If NISC provides an event app, attendees must use it respectfully. The app should not be used for spam, unwanted repeated messages, inappropriate sales outreach, offensive content, collecting attendee data outside the purpose of the event, or contacting people who have made it clear they do not wish to be contacted.

Sponsors and exhibitors should only use app, scanning or delegate engagement features in line with the access agreed as part of their package.

6. Photography and recording conduct

Attendees must not take intrusive, inappropriate or unauthorised photographs, video or audio recordings of other attendees. Where a session or discussion is positioned as private, closed or not for recording, this must be respected.

7. Reporting concerns

Anyone who experiences or witnesses behaviour that does not meet this Code of Conduct should speak to a member of the NISC team or contact info@nisc.org.uk. Concerns will be handled as sensitively as possible.

8. Action NISC may take

NISC reserves the right to take appropriate action where this Code of Conduct is breached. This may include speaking directly with the person involved, asking someone to stop certain behaviour, removing access to a session, networking area, app or event feature, removing a person from the event, or refusing future attendance. Where someone is removed from the event due to inappropriate behaviour, no refund will be provided.
